The ranch house, a once idyllic haven, now bore the imprint of a battlefield. Shanahan stood alongside Gomez, the air heavy with gunpowder and blood. Around them, deputies moved with practiced efficiency across the trampled earth. The FBI hadn’t shown up yet; apparently no one had notified them of Reece’s presence here until now.

Dead bodies lay strewn across the landscape, their final moments etched in the contorted expressions of shock and pain.

Gomez, his face a mask of stoic resolve, turned to Shanahan. “Are you sure it was Reece that did all this?”

Shanahan surveyed the carnage. “Yeah, this was Reece,” he said. “And those people on horseback… they were with Reece too.”

The notion that Reece could orchestrate such devastation was a bitter pill.

Gomez exhaled slowly, speaking softly. “I just hope she got what she came for. This better be the end of it.”

“Something tells me…” Shanahan said, feeling a cold certainty settle in his bones. “Something tells me this is just the beginning.”
